On turning on your Windows XP firewall:

1. Go to Start Menu then Setting, Control Panel
2. For the category view of your Control Panel, Click the Security Center and click the Windows Firewall and set it to ON.
3. For the classic view of your Control Panel, Click Windows Firewall and set it ON option.
