Hi
I have a problem on my laptop (XP Pro) where IE or other browsers will not connect directly to any site. The only way I can connect is to load Google Earth then go into 'Web' and that gives me access to most URLs. Even that seems a bit inconsistent though. I has been suggested that I change the port that IE uses to the same as the one that Google Earth uses to try and fix the problem. The trouble is that I don't know how to find the port number or how to change the IE port. I have tried everything that has been suggested to me - including the Winsock fix - all to no avail. So, for example, if I type New Egg Home or something - in any browser - I get page not found! If I go through Google Earth's Web option, it is OK. Very strange! It was possibly caused by some infection a while ago but nothing gets picked up when I check. This is becoming a serious nuisance Any help gratefully accepted. I am at highbridgesb@yahoo.co.uk Steve |
