Windows Vista MsWorks 8 Update Error KB955428

.Hi i dont no if this the right spot to post this but i have a windows update regarding microsoft works 8 and i get an error because i dont have the c.d. i dont no if came installed. I did some digging into other forums and came aross a download from microsoft to download and install it. i did download the eng.usa cab one and i followed instructions i put it on my desktop when i click on it i can see installer and then the allow and cancel screen but after i allow it nothing happens. Once i saw an error code 1305 and file does not exist and it failed. this is a real pain because when ever i turn on my pc i have this update. is there a way to diable just that update so it wouldnt come on anymore. If anyone has any suggestions id appreciate it thanks.
