Cool Disk defrag removed my mail folders!!!

Hello,

Last week I used the Vista degraf tool to defragment my hard drive. After its completion I noticed that most of the Windows Mail folders I created were gone! After looking into the mail store folder, I found out that many of them were still there but that all of the emails were renamed like "0AC82361-0000252C.eml".

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

DO NOT USE VISTA DEFRAG TOOL!!

Cool Only the Folder List view was altered

I have an update to this post. After further investigation, it appears that no folder were actually deleted. They were just removed from the Folder List view on the Windows Live layout (i.e., View > Layout).

To correct:
To get my folders back in the Folder List I did the following:
  1. In the Folders List window, select the very top level folder (i.e., Local Folders). This will display all folders in the primary display window on the right.
  2. As you open each folder, they will be added back to the Folders List on the left.
  3. Go through each top-level folder, selecting it and add it to the Folders List. If you add a folder, its sub-folders should be added also, but verify.
