Default How to stop auto correct?

I often use the abbreviation e.g., and i.e., and Word has an habit of capitalising the "e" and the "i". Is there a way to stop that happening. Thanks in advance.

Open Microsoft Word.
Click Format and then AutoFormat.
Click the Options... button.
Click the AutoCorrect tab.

From here you can disable it or just make it so that they filter out that word.

Select Tools | AutoCorrect Options... and activate the AutoCorrrect tab. Click Exceptions...
You can specify abbreviations that shouldn't be capitalized.
