Hi,
I recently upgraded my PC from Windows XP Media Center Edition to Windows Vista Premium. The installation went well. When I ran "Disk Cleanup", I could gain 17.2 GB by removing Previous Windows Installations. This is the message regarding previous windows installations: "Files from a previous Windows installation. Files and folders that may conflict with the installation of Windows have been moved to Folders named Windows.old. You can access data from the previous windows installations in this folder." My question: should I remove them to gain 17.2 GB of space? I certainly don't want to get into trouble with my new PC, so if it will create any problems, I won't do it. Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
I am quite new to Windows Vista, I have more experience with Windows XP. I have a Vista Home Premium box that has one user set up with administrator privileges. I am in the C:\ folder in a CMD prompt and am tring the following: copy con c:\myfile I then type some characters and save with Ctrl-Z I then get an access denied error. I cannot copy any files to C:\ or create any files in C:\ Where in WinVista do I tell it that I allow the system to have files written to the root (C:\) ? Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
Make sure that there is nothing there *you* want, but there is no reason to keep the files around from the operating system's point of view, if you see what I mean. If you're really unsure you could always back them up to DVD or something prior to deleting them, but really there should never be anything in that folder the OS itself needs. Cheers! |

Hi,
I want to set up my system so that when I open links in web pages etc, they open at a decent size? At the moment when I follow a link or open IE7 I have to keep dragging the page to increase its size for viewing. I am finding this quite annoying to say the least! I think I did something the other day by right clicking the taskbar and selected cascade windows or something like that and have had aggravation ever since. Thanks for any advice. |
